AI Advertising

Your customers are already asking AI.

We help businesses advertise in AI environments, starting with ChatGPT Ads. Reach your next customers where they explore, compare and make decisions.

  • ChatGPT Ads available now
  • EU, Germany & Netherlands
  • Self-service Ads Manager

As of September 2026. We are not an OpenAI partner and have no special access. We work in the same Ads Manager that is open to everyone, just daily.

Illustrative example of an AI conversation: someone asks for the best CRM for a small company. Below the answer, a recommendation labelled as sponsored appears, followed by three further options.

  • Relevant adAppears naturally in the conversation.
  • High intentReach people when they are exploring options.

The difference

A keyword says what someone wants. A conversation says why.

That is the whole difference, and everything else on this page depends on it. Into a search box you type two words. To an AI you explain the situation.

Told to an AI

“I need a solid wood dining table for 6 people, budget up to €1,500, delivered within 3 weeks.”

Five signals, and every one of them is something a supplier can answer.

Tap a term to see it in the sentence.

Search is not disappearing. The interface is getting bigger.

Timing

Five moments where a decision takes shape

A buying decision is not a click, it is a route, and today it often runs inside a single conversation. Advertising does not belong at every point along it.

“Solid wood or veneer, which lasts longer with daily use?”
What the person wants now
Weighing up. The criteria are set, options are being sorted.
Does an ad belong here?
FitsYes. This is exactly where a relevant recommendation is an answer, not an interruption.

Meet your customers inside the conversation

Technically it is an auction like any other: you bid, you pay per click, you measure conversions. The difference is in what delivery is based on.

Two routes to the same click
Classic search
  1. Keyword
  2. Results page
  3. Ad
AI conversation
  1. Conversation
  2. Context
  3. Intent
  4. Ad

One step more, and that is where the difference sits: the context decides whether your ad is eligible at all. There are no keywords to book. You supply context hints, and the system decides.

What works today, and what does not

Self-service via Ads ManagerAvailable
Open across Europe. The account has to belong to your own company.
Cost-per-click biddingAvailable
Alongside cost per thousand impressions and conversion-optimised bidding.
Conversion optimisationAvailable
Billing is still per click. Nobody pays per conversion.
Geographic targetingAvailable
At country level. Finer levels exist mainly in the US so far.
Product feeds for shopsAvailable
CSV, hosted URL or SFTP. Ads are generated from the feed automatically.
Pixel and Conversions APIAvailable
Both, deduplicated through event IDs so nothing is counted twice.
Your own audience listsNot available
Unusable for campaigns targeting the EEA or Switzerland. Personalised ads do not exist there yet.
Retargeting website visitorsNot available
For the same reason. Anyone promising you this for Europe has not checked.
Booking keywordsNot available
Does not exist. Context hints are hints, not a booking.
Revenue and ROAS in reportingAnnounced

We Got It Marketing is independent. Not an OpenAI partner, not certified, no preferred access. We work in the Ads Manager that is open to everyone.

The process

How a campaign runs

Four steps, and none of them is new if you have ever run Google Ads. Only the third works differently.

01

Account and access

You create the ad account yourself. OpenAI does not let agencies do it on a client’s behalf. Then you invite us. Review takes a few working days and cannot be rushed. Country, currency and time zone are fixed afterwards.

02

Campaign and objective

Objective, budget and bid. A daily budget is a seven-day average: a single day may spend twice it, and a week never more than seven times it.

03

Ads and context hints

Headline, copy, image, landing page, and instead of keywords, hints about the conversations your offer fits. They are not exact matches and do not guarantee delivery. For shops the ads are generated from the product feed instead.

04

Measure and refine

Pixel and Conversions API back on your site, conversions defined, then optimisation. OpenAI controls delivery, not the advertiser. What we control is the bid, the copy, the landing page and the exclusions.

Our work

What we take care of

A self-service tool is not a strategy. And nobody has five years of experience with this channel. What counts is whether someone sets campaigns up properly and measures them honestly.

Strategy
First the question of whether the channel is worth it for you. For some the answer is: not yet.
Account and structure
Structure, objectives, budgets, bids. We work in your account, and it stays yours.
Ads
Copy that answers a described situation rather than a keyword. That is a different kind of writing.
Product and service data
Preparing the feed, sharpening titles and attributes, keeping prices and availability in sync.
Measurement
Pixel and Conversions API server-side, event IDs against double counting, reconciled against your shop.
Optimisation
Bids, context hints, landing pages, exclusions. Weekly, not quarterly.
Across channels
Together with Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and your website, so the channel is not judged in isolation.

Measurement

What you see, and what it depends on

The first four figures the platform provides on its own. The other four exist only if someone has built the measurement. Switch the sources on and see what ends up in your report.

Connected sources

  • ClicksIn the report
  • SpendIn the report

  • Revenue and ROASStill missingNeeds: OpenAI Pixel · Shop or CRM

Revenue and ROAS are announced inside the platform but not available yet. Until then they come from your own data, which is the more honest route anyway, because your shop knows the number that actually counts. Attribution runs on click windows of 7, 14 or 30 days, and a share of reported conversions is modelled.

In practice

From feed to purchase, from question to enquiry

The chain is the same. Only the last two stops differ, and with them the question of what breaks when something breaks.

Looking ahead

ChatGPT is only the beginning

AI interfaces are becoming places where people find products. What that turns into as an advertising channel is open, which is why this names what is settled and what is not.

  1. Bookable today
    • Google Ads
    • Meta Ads
    • SEO
    • ChatGPT Ads

All of it runs, is measurable and has a budget you control.

  2. In motion
    • More formats in ChatGPT
    • Third-party measurement
    • Completing a purchase in the conversation

Announced by OpenAI or in beta. Nobody is naming dates, and neither are we.

  3. What we watch
    • Advertising in other AI interfaces
    • How visibility inside AI answers develops

No other provider has a publicly bookable advertising product so far. The moment that changes we will look at it and tell you whether it is worth your time.

How it fits

One more channel, not a replacement

AI advertising replaces neither SEO nor Google Ads. It covers moments the others reach less well, and only together do they cover a whole route.

  • SEODiscover, Explore
  • AI AdvertisingCompare, Decide
  • Google AdsDecide, Act
  • Meta AdsDiscover

Performance marketing

Who does this

Not AI gurus. A performance team.

We have run paid channels and tracking for years. AI advertising is the next channel in the same discipline, not a new business model.

  • Google Ads and Meta Ads as daily work, not a side product
  • We build conversion tracking and server-side measurement ourselves
  • Websites and landing pages come from the same team
  • Offices in Göttingen and Amsterdam, two markets, one point of contact

What we do not promise

  • No figures for this channel that we have not measured ourselves.
  • No CPC and no ROAS up front. OpenAI publishes no benchmarks, so anyone quoting you a number is guessing.
  • No influence over what ChatGPT answers. Ads are labelled and kept separate from the answers.
  • No partnership and no special access, because neither exists.
Honestly checked

Is this for you, and is now the right time?

Two questions, and for a share of enquiries our answer is “not yet”. That is cheaper for you than a test that proves nothing.

Who this can pay off for

Product feeds are the most mature part of this channel. The clearer your titles, dimensions and prices, the more readily a product matches a described situation.

Worth it from a well-kept feed and cleanly measured orders onwards.

Who the channel is closed to

Financial services, health services and legal services may not advertise outside the United States. That covers practices, clinics, law firms and insurance or financial advice. We would rather say so now than after setting up an account.

Is now the right time?

Tick what applies to you.

Questions we get about this

The basics

What is AI advertising?
Advertising in interfaces where people talk to an AI instead of typing into a search box. Instead of a keyword there is a conversation carrying context: budget, dimensions, location, deadline. Today ChatGPT Ads is the first of these you can simply book.
What are ChatGPT Ads?
OpenAI’s advertising product. Ads appear below an answer in ChatGPT, are labelled as sponsored and are kept separate from the answer. You buy through the Ads Manager at ads.openai.com, billed per click or per thousand impressions.
Can my business advertise on ChatGPT?
If your company is based in one of the released countries and your industry is permitted, yes. Germany and the Netherlands are on the list. Financial services, health services and legal services are excluded outside the US. The account must belong to your own company.
Is ChatGPT advertising available in Germany?
Yes. OpenAI announced the expansion to 31 European countries in August 2026 and names Germany explicitly; self-service through the Ads Manager has been open since. As of September 2026.
Is ChatGPT advertising available in the Netherlands?
Yes, in the same expansion. Dutch campaigns carry the same limits as German ones: no personalised ads and no audience lists of your own.
How much does ChatGPT advertising cost?
There is no rate card. You bid in an auction and pay per click or per thousand impressions, and what a click costs depends on competition, category and relevance. The smallest daily budget per campaign is €15, which is a floor rather than a recommendation. What a sensible test costs, we tell you after the assessment and before any decision.
How does this differ from Google Ads?
Mostly in delivery. On Google you book keywords; here there are none. Ads are delivered against the context of the conversation, and you only supply context hints. On top of that: no personalised ads and no audience lists in Europe, and narrower reporting. The mechanics of auction, bid, budget and conversion are the same.
Can it generate leads, not just sales?
Yes. Enquiries, appointment requests, registrations and trials are standard conversions in the platform. What matters is that the landing page matches the exact request described in the conversation.
Can online shops advertise products?
Yes, through a product feed via CSV, hosted URL or SFTP. The platform generates ads from that feed with image, title, price and rating. OpenAI names feed ads as among the strongest performers so far. Feed quality counts for more than budget.

Technology, cost and limits

Does a product feed also put me in ChatGPT’s normal answers?
No. During the beta, feed items are used for ads only and do not appear in organic answers. Anyone promising otherwise is selling you something that does not exist.
Can it be measured properly?
Yes, with the OpenAI Pixel in the browser and the Conversions API on the server, with event IDs preventing double counting. The report shows impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, average CPC and conversions. Revenue and ROAS are announced but not included yet; those come from your shop.
What is the OpenAI Pixel?
A piece of JavaScript for your website that reports actions such as a purchase, a sign-up or an enquiry back to the ad account. Without it you see clicks but not what became of them.
What is the Conversions API?
The same purpose, but from your server rather than the browser. It survives ad blockers and cookie restrictions, which makes it the more reliable route. In practice you use both and reconcile them through event IDs.
Do advertisers see the conversations?
No. According to OpenAI, advertisers receive aggregated performance data, not chats. Only when someone chooses to message an advertiser through an ad does that advertiser see the message. That is OpenAI’s account of it, as of September 2026, not a guarantee from us.
Can advertising influence what ChatGPT answers?
No. OpenAI states explicitly that ads do not change the answers and that advertisers cannot influence them. Ads sit labelled below the answer, not inside it.
Will other AI platforms offer advertising?
Possibly, but nothing publicly bookable has been announced. That is why this page makes no claim about it. The moment another advertising product genuinely becomes available we will assess it and tell you whether it makes sense for you.
Should I run this alongside Google Ads and Meta Ads?
Alongside, yes. As a replacement, no. The channel is new, in beta, and OpenAI is scaling delivery cautiously, so volume and reliability are not Google’s yet. We treat it as a test next to what already carries the business.
Who actually sees these ads?
Logged-in adults on the free tiers and on ChatGPT Go. Anyone paying for Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise sees no advertising. Under-18s are excluded, and no ads are delivered near sensitive topics such as health, mental health or politics.
